Heimablídni - Home Grown Hospitality

Here at Hanusarstova we always aim to give you the very best we have to offer. Heimablídni or home grown hospitality has been a known gesture of the faroese people for generations, we even hava a saying for it here "Har tað er hjartarúm, er húsarúm" - translation : "If there is room in the heart there is room in the home"

We strive to serve food from our own farm and surrounding area. Being sheep farmers ourselves our own free range lamb is always on the menu, also free range eggs from our own chickens and ducks + all cakes are always made with our own eggs, potatoes grow really well on our farm and so do rhubarb so those two are also always on the menu - other than that we do grow some herbs and salads during the summer months and strive to expand our vegetable garden even more this year.

Other than our own produce, we aim to support other local farms as much as possible.

These last few years our Heimablídni has been a bit quiet both due to Covid, but also due to having a baby - now toddler + special needs child occupying the house full time.

Therefor our Heimablídni restaurant is only open by appointment and we’ve just opened up for bookings this spring/summer. Mainly Sunday dinners with the family and evening dinners are available.

When you come to dinner at Hanusarstova it will mostly just be a few people and we will usually prepare the food and then join you for dinner ourselves - so the meals are eaten family style, sharing stories and experiences between us. To us it very important that our guests feel welcome and almost as if they were visiting family. The food is prepared just like our grandmothers would do it - although with our own flare.
